Summary: Cady (pronounced as 'katie') is a 16-yr-old who has been home schooled all her
life and she gets introduced into the real world of high school when her family moves from Africa to America. Her parents, both zoologists, decide it's time for their daughter to be enrolled into a high school like all regular American teens. What her parents do not know is the social rules, psychological warfare and MEAN girls that anticipates and make high school living for their innocent daughter, Cady. On the first day of school, Cady is introduced to the different cliques that exist in her high school by her two new friends, Damien (the guy too gay to function) and Janis (the goth girl).Fellow highschoolers are categorised in various categories according to where they sit during lunch. There is the Asian nerds, the cool Asians, the blacks, the coolest people Cady will ever meet (that's janis and damien according to janis), most important of all...the plastics. They consist of the Queen Bee, Regina and her two sidekicks Gretchen(the bootlicker) and Karen(the bimbo). Cady is invited to sit with them on the first day.
Cady then falls for Regina (the leader of the plastics)'s hot ex boyfriend, Aaron. At the same time, Cady's two new friends decide its a good idea for her to play espionage, get close to the plastics so they can know all about them. Things start to heat up when Cady finds Regina kissing Aaron at a party. She decides to give Regina a taste of her own medicine....she becomes a mean girl herself...
In the presence of jocks, mathletes, the plastics, North Shore High turns into a jungle that Cady is ever so familiar with. She is torn between her high position in the social ladder and her true self where she has to make a choice.
Review: Based on a book by Rosalind Wiseman called "Queenbees and Wannabees". A great movie for all the girlies out there. Great cast and wonderful wardrobe. Listen out for interesting wardrobe rules the plastics have (Pink on Wed, Jeans only on Fri, hair only to be bunned or tied up once a week). Not only is it a film about the politics of the teenage social world, it's also about self reflection and the enlightenment to the more important issues in life rather than just popularity in high school. Characters are also easy to relate to (esp if you're from all all-girls school. my friend said her school was exactly like that). Go catch it...definitely worth a watch. Enjoy!! Write about your feelings towards it after u watch it in the space for comments. Also check out the website!!!
